About SolACE - Solutions for improving Agroecosystem and Crop Efficiency for water and nutrient use

The goal of SolACE - Solutions for improving Agroecosystem and Crop Efficiency for water and nutrient use - was to help European agriculture face major challenges, notably increased rainfall variability and reduced use of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers for both economic and ecological purposes. SolACE designed solutions (strategies and tools) that combine novel crop genotypes and agroecosystem management innovations to improve water and nutrient use efficiency. It looked at a range of agricultural contexts across pedo-climatic regions and farming systems of Europe.

The SolACE project had 25 partners in 14 countries and was funded under the European Union's research and innovation programme Horizon 2020 (http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/horizon2020).

It was coordinated by Philippe Hinsinger of INRAE, the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment.
