New video: RootPhAir Platform

This video provides a guided tour of the root phenotyping platform at UCLouvain, which was used in SolACE to get the root phenotype data needed for genomic selection.

The RootPhAir platform is a small phenotyping installation located in Louvain la Neuve in Belgium. Solar radiation and temperature are mapped continuously with a one-meter resolution, because they are the fuel and accelerator of plant growth. In RootPhAir, up to a thousand plants are cultivated in aeroponics. This means that their roots grow contact free in a mist of nutrient solution. A special imaging cabinet generates high-resolution images of the roots and shoots, which are used to capture fine details of root growth and development.
